A telephone company specializes in maximizing the profits by charging for each calls made by every customer. The manner with which the calls are being charged by the same company - it differs. There are mainly two methods that are commonly employed by telephone companies - prepaid and postpaid. For the sake of simplicity, allow me to explain a bit about these two billing procedures, before highlighting the advantages of prepaid phone cards. Prepaid calling - you will have to purchase the appropriate credits from the telephone company. When you are making a call, the credits will be reduced.
Once the credits are lapsed, you should recharge the account with a suitable denomination. This will enable you to continue the calls (once again). Postpaid calling - the credit system is virtually absent in this niche. The server (located with the telephone company) will record your monthly usage. At the end of the month, a bill will be generated. You will have to pay the bill, so that you can resume calling for the succeeding month. In fact, I do not feel the need for such an elaborate explanation - the meanings are self-explanatory!
Now allow me to explain the advantages of prepaid phone cards. Alternatively, I will be addressing the query "why should I opt for prepaid phone cards". We had seen earlier that a credit system is in place on this segment. Once the credit limit is exhausted your account will be deactivated. This is held, in effect, until you recharge the same account. In other words, one will be able to lower the calling costs significantly. If you do not understand the true nature, allow me to induce a good example in the succeeding passage.
Prepaid phone cards are analogous to debit cards. Postpaid phone cards are similar to credit cards. You will be able to shop without any control when you are paying with your credit card. On the same time, when you are using the debit card, there is this lingering feeling within you - the amount might lapse shortly. This will enable you to shop for less. In fact, the same can be seen in the case of these phone cards also. The need for contracts that are lengthy is also eliminated when prepaid phone cards are used. Just recharge your account and pay on the go only for the calls that are made from the card!
Prepaid phone-cards have another advantage - the user maintains the complete control over the total cost them. They will be able to switch carriers within a shorter duration because they are not committed with any particular phone company (by any kind of contracts). The same is impossible for postpaid phone cards - you will have to pay the outstanding amounts and only then, you will be able to migrate to another network. The youth and those who look at the associated costs of every phone call commonly employ prepaid calling cards and phone cards! Talk about holding accounts with various cellular companies at the same time!
